Great Plains Communications is the largest independent telecommunications company devoted to rural Nebraska. It offers residential services such as digital phone including local and long-distance calling, as well as high-definition cable television. Broadband Internet is available in all Great Plains Communications communities through DSL and cable modem facilities or its partnership with WildBlue Satellite Internet Services. The company also provides business services ranging from traditional voice and data products to the installation and support of large business networks.
Great Plains Communications was founded in 1910 by E.C. Hunt and is based in Blair, Nebraska. Almost half of the company’s employees live and work in the rural towns where they provide service. It is now in its 4th generation of family ownership. In 2010, Great Plains Communications marks a great milestone, celebrating its 100th Anniversary of proudly serving Nebraska.
