Our roots are in domestic and commercial scale energy use research.
We have been at the forefront of the introduction of distributed energy technologies. Our involvement has ranged from advising DECC, Defra and BERR on policy options, to technical studies for the Carbon Trust and Energy Saving Trust. We have also been involved with many energy field trial data collection exercises, as data collection contractor, data auditor, and data analysis/reporting contractor. Because of this work, we are at the forefront of understanding of microgeneration technologies and their application. We are in regular consultation with Defra, DECC, BRE, and the Department of Communities on these issues. We had a substantial technical input to the Carbon Trust’s Biomass Heat Accelerator Programme.
We have managed the UK Government’s boiler efficiency database (SEDBUK) since 1999 and set up the parallel HARP database for SEI in 2006. We also provide high level technical advice to SEI on the Panel of Experts of the Sustainable Energy Services Division. It is our technical focus and breadth of knowledge which sets us apart from our competitors. We understand the actual benefits of technology adoption rather than predictions based purely on theory.
