DNA Genotek, a subsidiary of OraSure Technologies, Inc., set out to discover how to optimize DNA sample collection and meet an emerging demand for non-invasive collection methods. With the launch of its flagship product Oragene®•DNA in 2004, DNA Genotek revolutionized the DNA sample collection market by creating a chemistry to stabilize DNA from saliva. For the first time, the industry would have a mechanism to collect large amounts of high quality DNA through non-invasive sampling as an alternative to blood samples. Our products allow donors to simply spit into a plastic tube in order to provide a reliable, high quality DNA sample in an easy and cost effective way. Since its launch, Oragene®•DNA has become the product of choice for customers in major academic institutions, hospitals and for diagnostic testing companies worldwide.
In 2009, the company launched Oragene®•ANIMAL, which offers researchers and veterinarians an easy, painless and proven solution for collecting DNA saliva samples from animals. In 2010, DNA Genotek launched Performagene™•LIVESTOCK, a new method for collecting DNA from livestock with nasal samples. To date in 2011, the company released three new products: ORAcollect™, prepIT™ and OMNIgene™•DISCOVER.

Effective today, Oragene•DNA is now Oragene•DISCOVER for US research customers. Oragene•DISCOVER is the result of a change in the brand name and labeling of our Oragene•DNA product. Our web site has already been updated with these newly branded products and has been regionalized so that you will see only the products available in your region.
