CRC ORE, the Cooperative Research Centre for Optimising Resource Extraction, is transforming resource extraction and the way it is evaluated through the creation of tools and techniques that consider energy, water and the generation of CO2 in the assessment of mining operations.
CRC ORE is about technology transfer: validating and applying the tools and techniques that will bring about a step-change in mining industry’s approach to resource extraction.
It does this by collaborating with major industry firms such as Anglo American, BHP Billiton, Newcrest Mining, Teck Metals and Xstrata to validate the leading research conducted by The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and The University of Tasmania. Additional support by commercial providers CAE Mining, JKTech and Quantitative Group provide the mechanisms for effective uptake by the minerals industry.
This multi-million dollar research centre is backed by Cooperative Research Centre Program, an Australian Government Initiative.
