Caplin Systems provides Web trading technologies for the capital markets. Primarily this entails using its software frameworks, Caplin Trader and Caplin Xaqua, to build single-dealer platforms that integrate with a bank's existing infrastructure to provide multi-asset trading in a Web browser.
Its products include Caplin Trader, an HTML5-ready Web framework for building browser-based trading applications that will run in any browser without requiring proprietary plug-ins. Caplin Trader includes components such as product grids, trading panels, trade blotters, trading tickets, product and instrument search, charts, and news displays.
Caplin Trader runs on top of Caplin Xaqua, which is a single-dealer platform (SDP) framework that includes all the functionality necessary to support real-time trading over the Internet, including financial trading specific functions such as throttling and conflation of price updates, crossing, spreading, tiering and validation. It also includes other functions such as latency management, fail-over, load-balancing, configurable workflows and permissioning. In addition to Caplin Trader and native HTML, Caplin Xaqua supports other front-end technologies such as Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flex, Java and .NET.
Caplin was founded in 2000 and is based in the City of London, the United Kingdom
