For nearly 20 years, CPE has helped motivated, low-income high school students from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area overcome the academic and social barriers that would otherwise prevent them from attending and succeeding in the colleges of their choice.
CPE identifies students who live in neighborhoods with very low-performing public high schools and empowers them to reach their full potential in high-performing private and charter schools through a unique combination of mentoring, individualized academic and enrichment programming, and scholarships through all four years of high school. By complimenting the rigorous education in some of D.C.'s top schools with these additional wrap around services, CPE levels the playing field between our students and their upper-income peers and helps get our students to and through college.
Since 1993, the organization has supported more than 400 students and grown and expanded into a uniquely effective, holistic program that has produced a 70% completion rate, a 99% college enrollment rate, and a 73% college completion rate for its graduates.
