In 2008, the Cancer Support Community officially launched the first ever Research & Training Institute, a community of healthcare professionals focused on cancer survivorship. The goal of the institute is to be a vibrant resource and destination for the cancer community at large - a place to conduct peer-reviewed research, sponsor patient and caregiver forums, host retreats, and direct state-of-the-art training programs for health care professionals.
The Research & Training Institute examines the critical role of social and emotional support for those living with cancer and will study the distinctive needs of survivors and caregivers throughout each phase of the cancer experience and post treatment. The Cancer Support Community’s vision to build the Institute was shaped by our expertise and strong track record in research and training.
