The Busoga Trust has, for almost 30 years, been working to provide the people of rural Uganda with clean water, improved sanitation and a thorough understanding of hygiene.
The guiding principle of the Trust is sustainability, and was long before the term was popular. It believes in a long term partnership with the people it serves, rather than providing a well one day and leaving the next. This is illustrated by the simple fact that the very first well constructed, in 1984, is still pumping water today, in 2011.
Over those three decades the Trust, constantly learning from others and scrutinising itself, has constructed over 2000 clean water sources. We estimate this to provide in excess of one million people with safe water to drink. Nourished by this water and protected by knowledge of hygiene & sanitation, we believe that the people will build a prosperous community for future generations
