Ballet Nouveau Colorado (BNC) was founded in 1992, offering dance training and educational programs to the local community. The National Guild for Community Arts Education certified these quality programs in 1999. Three years later, the organization established a professional dance company creating a three-pronged approach to providing great dance to the Denver Metro area.
The Company
Under the artistic direction of Garrett Ammon and Dawn Fay, BNC presents a season of five productions at multiple Denver metro theaters including the Performing Arts Complex at PCS and Lakewood Cultural Center. The majority of the repertoire consists of world-premiere works, created specifically for the artists and audiences.
The School
The School of BNC is guided by a philosophy that any person who walks through its doors deserves the highest caliber dance education. Under the guidance of Julia Wilkinson Manley since 2002, The School of BNC serves more than 300 students per year and is deeply committed to every student regardless of age, ability, aspiration, or socio-economic status.
Community Programs
Serving more than 20,000 individuals annually, BNC’s Community Programs are some of the most comprehensive in the Denver metro area.
BNC's elementary partnership program brings year-long arts experiences to four public schools in high-need neighborhoods each season. These programs also provide interactive in-school and in-theatre performances by BNC's professional company throughout the year as well as the option of before or after school ballet classes.
BNC’s professional company performs nearly 60 additional lecture/demonstration performances each season for more than 14,000 elementary school students. Each of these mini-performances provides integrated learning opportunities for the students. Finally, more than 1,200 free tickets are provided annually to low income, senior and at-risk individuals.
