Software and services for Internet broadcasting, including Internet radio automation, server and streaming software, as well as server and station hosting. Backbone helps organizations create and operate Internet radio stations and network them together in a peer-sharing network of affiliates, including automatic syndication of content, including music, news and advertising.
In cooperation with the Intercollegiate Broadcast Network, Backbone created and operates the IBS Student Radio Network, a network of college and high school radio stations that enables schools to broadcast using low cost Apple Macs, with servers in "the Cloud". In this configuration, studios (Macs) may be distributed, mobile and flexible.
Backbone partners include PRX (news distribution technology), Pirate Promotions (music syndication and delivery), IBS (College Radio Association) and TuneIn (streaming player technology & directories).
