Ann-sofie Back Biography
ASB graduated from Beckman’s College of Design in Stockholm with a BA in fashion design. She moved to London to complete an MA in womenswear at St’Martins College of Art & Design (graduating 1998). In April 2009, after more than 10 years in London Ann-Sofie Back returned to Stockholm where she relocated her studio and later that year opened a “Hostage Store”, her first own-brand store. The move coincided with Ann-Sofie Back’s appointment as head designer of Cheap Monday together with founder Örjan Andersson. In October 2001, ASB debuted her own prêt-aporter collection at the Purple institute in Paris and In February 2005 ASB debuted on the official London Fashion Week calendar enabling her to present her ideas to a wider audience.
ASB also launched a second line called BACK for 2005. This was very well received worldwide and earned ASB the “Best designer 2004”, award from Elle magazine Back in Sweden, a price she has received three times. She has received critical acclaim for her collections to date with editorials appearing in such as Italian Vogue, English Vogue, Self Service, Dazed and Confused and i-D and Harpers Bazaar. She has several high profile stockists, such as Maria-Luisa, throughout the world.
