access:energy is a for-profit startup that aims to deliver affordable off-grid electricity services to hundreds of thousands of East African households over the next 10 years.
84% of Kenyans – 32million people – do not have electricity at home - even Kenya's most ambitious national policies leave 20 million Kenyans without electricity for another generation. We think off-grid renewable energy is the only real alternative.
We are currently developing a local production network for manufacture of our wind turbines in country. At this stage we undertake all final assembly at our workshop. As capacity continues to develop throughout our supply network, we plan to outsource manufacturing entirely to local operators while we focus on client services and product development.
