ASLIB is a membership association for people who manage information and knowledge in organisations. We provide training, advice and networking for members, with a key focus on data protection, intellectual property and information governance issues.
ASLIB was originally established as the Association for Special Libraries and Information Bureaux in London, in 1924. During April 2010 ASLIB was acquired by Emerald Group Publishing Limited. The acquisition means that ASLIB's services to members will continue to grow in line with member and community feedback.
ASLIB publish Managing Information magazine which provides all information professionals and their organisations with new and analysis, direct views from leading experts in an easy to read and time-saving format on all aspects of information and knowledge management.
ASLIB provides training and development for busy information professionals in key aspects of information work. We offer public courses and workshops, as well as on-site and distance programmes.
The ASLIB Communities of Practice provides invaluable support to members in the pursuit of their professional duties within their organizations. One of the most important aspects of group membership is the invaluable network of contacts formed between members which creates an effective information resource as well as providing business and career opportunities.
