Expeditionary Learning Schools inspire the motivation to learn, engage teachers and students in new levels of focus and effort, and transform schools into places where students and adults become leaders of their own learning. We provide a model of learning that challenges students – even those starting with low skill levels – with high level tasks and active roles in the classroom. Our results, demonstrated consistently in EL schools across the country, are distinctive. Not only do students achieve at higher levels than their peers on state tests, but they also gain skills critical to college readiness and success – problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, persistence towards excellence, and active citizenship.
