Carthage Area Hospital (CAH) was founded as a 501-(c)-3 federal tax exempt and not-for-profit organization in 1965. Located in Carthage, New York, the 78 bed hospital provides services to a rural population residing in eastern Jefferson, southern St. Lawrence and northern Lewis counties of Northern New York. The Hospital is proud to serve our military personnel and their families at Fort Drum. The 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum is one of two military bases within the United States that does not have its own military hospital.
The Hospital serves the community in two capacities; it is a Sole Community Hospital provider and it is the largest employer within the community. CAH employs over 425 full time and part time employees with an annual payroll of over $18,000,000.
