Datatrac Corporation The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration released a final rule effective January 3, 2012 that restricts the use of hand-held mobile phones by drivers of commercial motor vehicles. Included in this restriction are mobile devices with the push-to-talk (PTT) function. The new rule may accelerate a technology shift away from older iDEN network devices toward newer smartphones.
