The Indiana University Foundation was created in 1936 by a small group of alumni, friends, and members of the Indiana University community who were motivated by a dream of educational opportunity.
In fiscal year 2009-2010, Indiana University received more than $100 million in gifts from more than 100,000 individuals, corporations, and foundations.
IUF manages an endowment of approximately $1.3 billion, administers about 6,000 gift accounts, and provides related fundraising services to IU and its donors.
IU consistently ranks among the nation's top universities in total voluntary support, the sum of gifts and nongovernmental research grants received from the private sector.
Among public universities, IU ranks in the top 15 in the nation in the market value of its endowment.
