NCSS is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 to help educate coaches and elevate awareness of sports safety.
By utilizing an educational program called PREPARE, coaches, parents, and administrators can utilize a muti-module course which teaches recognition of potentially harmful injuries to athletes. Delivered hands-on or online, the course focuses on heat and cold illnesses, facial/head & neck/ocular trauma, emergency action planning, and concussions.
Developed with the compilation of over thirty leaders in the arena of sports medicine and education, the course has been utilized by over 7,000 coaches as of January 2009.
Located in Birmingham, Alabama, the organization was founded by world-renown orthpaedic surgeon and sports medicine guru Dr. Larry Lemak.
