DeKalb Medical has been designated a Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence by the independent health ratings agency HealthGrades. This designation places DeKalb Medical among the top five percent of U.S. hospitals for clinical care and acknowledges DeKalb Medical's clinical excellence among 26 rated diagnoses and procedures.
"This top ranking is from an independent health ratings organization, so it's a reaffirmation of the high clinical quality and outstanding patient outcomes provided by DeKalb Medical,” said DeKalb Medical President & Chief Executive Officer Eric Norwood.
Norwood indicates that DeKalb Medical has made substantial investments in infrastructure and implemented significant improvements to achieve the outstanding patient outcomes. This includes the full implementation of electronic medical records, which reduce medical errors and enable doctors to better manage patient care. DeKalb Medical has also established the DeKalb Quality Institute, where best practices are researched and applied by physicians and the entire clinical team. The new Center for Nursing Practice was established to research and apply the highest standards of nursing practice.
