Pedernales Electric Cooperative, based in Johnson City, Texas, is the largest distribution electric cooperative in the country, serving more than 238,000 meters in an 8,100-square-mile service area. The purpose of the Cooperative is to provide safe, reliable, low-cost energy services in partnership with its member-owners, and this mission drives PEC’s initiatives and policies that are crafted with the membership in mind.

PEC has illuminated cities and helped the Hill Country grow and prosper since 1938. We’re proud of our heritage and excited about the possibilities the future will bring. From next-generation energy delivery methods to our Green Works environmental programs to MyUse Energy Analyzer, we’re always working to use technology that benefits our members while helping to protect the community we all share.

PEC is governed by a Board of Directors nominated and elected by its membership via a transparent and democratic process that we encourage our members to participate in. And in an effort to improve our members’ lives and safeguard their interests, we take pride in partnering with local organizations and leading educational programs within the communities we serve.
