Shorewest Surety Services, Inc. Just attended an interesting seminar about Lean Construction by Robert Chartier, P.D. One of the most interesting points he made was 75% of your day is non-value added to your customer, 14% adds value and 11% is breaks/lunch. Being "Lean" is a process that considers all expenditures that don't add value to the customer. Rob used an example from his company where some paperwork that took 21 days from beginning to end was evaluated through the Lean Process and they were able to decrease that amount to six days.
