Settlement Housing Fund is a citywide nonprofit organization whose mission is to create and sustain economically and ethnically diverse affordable housing in New York City, to maintain that housing in excellent repair, and to create a wide array of programs and amenities for residents and others living in surrounding neighborhoods.
Since 1969, we have developed 57 projects with over 8,700 apartments that are home to more than 25,000 low and middle income residents, including formerly homeless people. We also develop and oversee programs for young people and families that help them achieve self-sufficiency, upward mobility and educational success. In addition to developing our own buildings and creating and managing programs, Settlement Housing Fund serves as a marketing consultant and technical assistance provider to real estate developers throughout New York City renting up affordable housing units through the 80/20 Housing Program.
