The La Vernia Municipal Development District (MDD) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas and the City of La Vernia, established for the purposes of promoting economic development within the City. The MDD is funded by a special dedicated sales tax to implement economic development, cultural and recreational projects. A five member board of directors is appointed by the City Council and the Executive Director oversees daily operations.
Executive Director, Jennifer Kolbe, serves as a resource for existing businesses and promotes the community as a location for new business development. The MDD works to expand and diversify the local tax base; Create quality job opportunities for all levels of employment; Encourage responsible, diverse growth and development, and; Enhance La Vernia’s quality of life as an attractive and desirable place to live, work, play and grow.
