Food from the Karoo was born out of pure passion for food, fresh and wholesome ingredients, Karoo farming and nature. The idea of bringing food from the Karoo to the fridges of foodies was initially a hobby of mine started in October 2010. Since then, my enthusiasm has been fueled by the delight and happiness the food seems to bring Karoo and food enthusiasts alike.
Food from the Karoo offers farm food produced by our family farm mainly, but also the farms and the people of the central Karoo. People who live and love Karoo farm life, who care and understand the special environment and believe in its potential. All produce are grown in the Karoo in the way nature intended – no artificial intervention. Our authenticity stems from our commitment to natural farming, our respect for nature, Karoo traditions and the purity of the products. Only by being authentic can our produce represent the defined and unique quality and taste that remains unmatched outside of the Karoo.
The products offered include whatever we are able to produce on the farm, be it lamb or mutton throughout the year, or the more seasonal produce from our vegetable garden and fruit trees. As I love all food, and believe one should make the most of the incredibly fertile soils, we try our hand at preserves, vegetables, fruits, herbs and anything else that we find exciting.
