Hugh's big idea, cartoons on the back of business cards would seem to be a simplistic proposition. How much can you actually communicate in a space that is 3.5” * 2 ”? As it turns out, quite a lot. Enough to change businesses and disrupt cultures.
Hugh began his career as a creative in mega ad agencies. He made his rounds in NY, Chicago, LA. Never quite loving the corporate world, he abandoned it for the pastoral North of England, where in 2001, he started blogging and posting his cartoons on the back of business cards – the little space where all his big ideas start.
Hugh became well known in the on-line world for both his cartooning and his amazing marketing insights, and by 2004 gapingvoid.com was one of the most trafficked blogs in the world. Some of of his manifestos such as 'How to be Creative", have been downloaded nearly five million times.
Hugh has now written two books "Ignore Everybody" and "Evil Plans", both published by Penguin/Portfolio. His artwork is sold at www.gapingvoidgallery.com, and Gapingvoid ltd., Hugh's consulting business counts dozens of businesses as clients, including Intel, Mircosoft, Nestle and SAP.
Hugh likes to say that his work "Helps leaders lead", and helps businesses become more human.
