The Deworm the World Initiative improves children’s health and education worldwide by supporting governments and development partners to expand school-based deworming programs.
400 million school-age children worldwide are infected with parasitic worms, which harm their health and development, limit their participation in school, and decrease their earnings as adults. Thankfully there is a simple, safe and cost-effective solution: for less than 50 US cents per child per year, deworming in schools can rid large numbers of children of these worms.
We have reached 35 million children to date, across 27 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Latin America. We achieve this impact by identifying what is needed to launch or sustain effective school-based deworming programs and coordinating the necessary assistance to regularly treat many millions of children each year.
