The University of West London has secured its future in London as a state-of-the-art educational institution, with employer engagement at the heart of its new strategic direction. The University changed its name from Thames Valley University in April 2011.
The University prides itself on offering students an education which prepares them for the challenges they will face after University. Over the coming years its mission is to consolidate its position so that an educational experience fit for the 21st century can be offered and demand for high-calibre graduates can be met.
The University reaches out to all ages and backgrounds, resulting in a large and diverse student body, with many mature, part-time and international students. There is a distinctive student base with 58% of its undergraduate population coming from backgrounds where the family income is below the national average. Over 97% of the student body consists of people who have progressed from state education and there are more than 120 nationalities.
The University will continue to provide additional activities and support to protect and widen access, as well as implement measures to improve progression and enhance the student experience.
The University provides a supportive and employment driven student experience, underpinned by personalised tuition. The University believes that it will continue to be attractive to students who wish to combine work and study, with a flexible delivery pattern.
