From its leading position in the Dutch market, insurance group Achmea positions itself internationally as an innovative player in selected markets. Established in 1811, today Achmea is the largest insurance provider in the Netherlands. Non-life, Health and Income Protection insurance products are core competences.
Products are primarily delivered through Bancassurance and Direct channels and via the Broker channel. In addition to its core business insurance, Achmea also provides products and services related to pensions, including asset management, and banking.
Achmea employs about 17,000 staff in the Netherlands and some 4,500 elsewhere in Europe. Achmea offers targeted and tailored products to its customers while benefiting from economies of scale in our back-office administration and processes.
Besides its home country, Achmea is active in seven other European countries. It develops its businesses in international markets based on core competences and the potential for economies of scale. In line with its strategy for the Netherlands, Achmea focuses on Non-life and Health insurance and products related to Income Protection, primarily delivered through the Direct and Bancassurance channels. Internationally, Achmea has a focus on the countries Turkey, Greece and Russia. Achmea is also present in Bulgaria, Slovakia, Ireland and Romania.
