Children of Bellevue, Inc. (CoB) was founded in 1949, and its mission is to act as an advocate for children and their families within Bellevue Hospital Center. Our core programs ease pain, loneliness, and other difficult aspects of children’s hospital experiences; help abused or neglected youngsters to cope, recover, and heal; advance language development among children at risk of delay; and nurture children and adolescents hospitalized for psychiatric reasons. The families served by CoB are generally poor, with over 80% having Medicaid, or other public child insurance programs. In some ways, all children are served by CoB because many of the programs that we have founded have been replicated in pediatric practices throughout the Untied States and even abroad.
