Stratophase manufactures and develops proprietary miniature sensors that provide robust in-line and in-the-field measurements. The sensor technology, SpectroSens, is a platform technology applicable to a wide range of applications, however the Company is focused on two applications; liquid process profiling and bio-detection.
SpectroSens sensors are used either as probes or flow through units to improve yield and efficiency in liquid processing industries by providing a fingerprint of the process and profile any changes. Example applications include bio-fuels, bio-processing, pharmaceutical manufacture and fine chemicals. In bio-detection SpectroSens is used to detect toxins, virus, bacteria and spores by attaching antibodies to the SpectroSens sensors detecting the binding of organisms to the antibodies. Example applications of bio-detection include bio-warfare agent detection, veterinary diagnostics and medical diagnostics.
The Company is a spinout from Southampton University and its investors include East Hill management, a Venture Capital firm based in Providence RI, USA. Stratophase has 17 staff including the inventors of the technology and operates from its facilities near Southampton, on the South Coast of the UK.
