Formed in December 1987 after the asset purchase of Nickum & Spaulding Associates, Inc., a 60-year old naval architecture firm with a reputation for quality marine design, EBDG continues to build its design and service portfolio. Today EBDG is owned by a group of employees and is in the process of re-opening its New Orleans office.

Elliott Bay Design Group Julia Clopton has joined EBDG's Seattle office as a Marine Engineer. Julia brings over 7 years of marine engineering experience. She holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the California Maritime Academy and holds an EIT Certificate from Washington State. Julia is a licensed Merchant Mariner with Unlimited 2nd Assistant Engineer Gas Turbine and 3rd Assistant Engineer Steam and Diesel ratings. She has 3+ years of sea time and 4 years experience working on marine systems designs, including piping and HVAC systems, and mechanical and machinery design. -
Elliott Bay Design Group Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) won a contract to design a new 150 ft. steel ferry for the Beaver Island Transportation Authority. The 150-passenger, 24-vehicle ferry will be operated by the Beaver Island Boat Company and will replace a 50-year-old vessel serving the small Island in Northern Lake Michigan. The new ferry will be powered by two geared diesel engines of approximately 1,500 horsepower each with fixed pitch propellers. -
