Whitney Museum Of American Art exhibits American art from the 20th and 21st century. The museum houses nearly 14,000 works of art representing more than 2,500 artists. Its Permanent Collection includes the entire artistic estate of Edward Hopper, Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, Lucas Samaras, Arshile Gorky, Marsden Hartley, Jasper Johns, Reginald Marsh, Agnes Martin, Georgia O’Keeffe, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, and Ad Reinhardt. The museum store offers a selection of art books and exhibition catalogues related to twentieth-century American art; it also sells household objects, Americana, stationery, posters, T-shirts, toys, and educational products for children. The Whitney was founded in 1930 and is based in New York City.
