Reading University has largest commercially accessible supercomputer in UK. To help recover some of the operating costs it can make computing time available to industry on a ‘pay as you use’ basis.
Climate change, financial modelling, drug discovery, computational biology, environmental modelling, studying the built environment, construction and engineering projects are being run on ThamesBlue.
ACET hosts and supports a wide range of HPC environments for the purposes of research. The main area of research is in advanced computing topics such as Monte Carlo methods, scalable algorithms, the mathematical modelling of complex systems, virtualisation and interactive visualisation.
ACET continually researches the speed up and tuning of applications on HPC environments to improve efficiency without compromise to accuracy.
