Sylvan, Inc. completed its merger with SAC Holding, Inc., a subsidiary of Snyder Associated Companies, Inc. in June 2004. Previously, Sylvan, Inc. was engaged in the production and distribution of products for the mushroom industry in the United States. It offered spawn (the equivalent of seed for mushrooms) and other spawn-related products and services, as well as fresh mushrooms. The company was organized as a Delaware corporation in March 1989, under the name, Sylvan Foods Holdings, Inc. and later changed its name to Sylvan, Inc. in July 1994 in conjunction with the change of its state of incorporation to Nevada.
