Stealth's began in 1995 as a provider of dedicated Internet access services to the mid/large enterprise market in New York City. Later, in 1997, Stealth expanded into the financial sector through the creation of the Financial Medium, an Ethernet-based interconnection service that enabled financial institutions to physically connect with trading partners at extremely low latency.

In 2001, Stealth entered into the service provider market with the introduction of NY6IX, the world's second largest native IPv6 exchange with participation from major service providers from around the globe. NY6IX was later renamed to the Big Apple Peering Exchange (Big APE) with added IPv4 support.

Two years later, in 2003, Stealth played a key role in redefining how voice networks interconnect and trade minutes. Stealth's Voice Peering Fabric (VPF) enabled buyers and sellers of minutes and telephony-related services to trade without a broker or counter-party, and allowed organizations to route traffic completely within the IP domain bypassing both the public telephone system and the public Internet. VPF sees tremendous activity everday, carrying on average over one billion minutes on a daily basis.

Stealth Communications is a privately held, New-York based company, established in 1995.
