It also offers Sorenson IP Relay service, which allows deaf and hard-of-hearing users to place instant text-based relay calls from a personal computer or mobile device to any telephone user; and Sorenson Video Remote Interpreting, a video interpreting service for use in situations where an interpreter cannot be physically present to interpret. The company was founded in 2000 as Sorenson Media, Inc. and changed its name to Sorenson Communications, Inc. in 2005. Sorenson Communications is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
