The company, formerly known as Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals, Inc., was founded in 1992 and changed its name to Sirna Therapeutics, Inc. in 2003. Sirna Therapeutics is headquartered in San Francisco, California. As of December 28, 2006 Sirna Therapeutics, Inc. is a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc.
