Shire Human Genetic Therapies Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, engages in the research, development, and commercialization of therapeutics for the treatment of genetic diseases caused by protein deficiencies. In addition, Shire Human Genetic Therapies, in collaboration with Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., developed Dynepo, a human erythropoietin for the treatment of anemia related to chronic renal failure. The company was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As of July 27, 2005, Shire Human Genetic Therapies, Inc. is a subsidiary of Shire Pharmaceuticals Group plc.
