Shenandoah Telecommunications Company, through its subsidiaries, provides regulated and unregulated telecommunications services to end-user customers and other communications providers in the southeastern United States. The company offers personal communications services (PCS) through a digital wireless telephone and data network under the Sprint brand name; regulated and non-regulated telephone services and access for inter-exchange carriers to the local exchange network; and Internet, video, and local and long distance voice services under the NTC brand to multi-dwelling unit residential communities. It also owns and leases tower space in the PCS service territories to other wireless communications providers. In addition, the company offers paging services and coaxial cable-based television services; sells and services telecommunications equipment; provides information services and Internet access; offers resale of long distance service for calls placed to locations outside the regulated telephone service; owns and operates a fiber optic network; and provides digital subscriber line (DSL) services. As of December 31, 2006, it had 24,830 telephone access lines; 153,503 retail PCS subscribers; 49,378 wholesale PCS subscribers; 8,440 cable television subscribers; 9,869 dial-up Internet subscribers; 6,599 DSL customers; and 10,499 long distance subscribers.
