Saint-Gobain, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the design, manufacture, and distribution of functional materials, such as glass, ceramics, plastics, and cast iron worldwide. It operates through five segments: Flat Glass, Packaging, Construction Products, Building Distribution, and High-Performance Materials. The Flat Glass segment manufactures basic flat glass products; processes and distributes glass and flat glass products for the building and automotive industries; and produces specialty glass, which includes products for home appliances, nuclear safety glass, fireproof glass, and glass for electronic devices. It also supplies windshields, rear windows, side windows, glass sun-roofs, and other ready-to-assemble modules to car manufacturers. The Packaging segment manufactures glass bottles and jars for the packaging of foodstuffs and beverages; glass flasks for perfume and pharmaceutical products; and plastic pump dispensers for the packaging of beauty, personal care, and cleaning products. The Construction Products segment provides building materials and insulation products, including gypsum and industrial mortars; external fittings, such as wall facings, roofing, roadwork, and utility connection components; and interior solutions, including glass wool, plasterboard, rock wool, and soundproof ceilings. It also manufactures products used in road-building, and supplies ductile cast-iron pipes and accessories used in water supply networks, wastewater drainage systems, and roadworks. The Building Distribution segment distributes building materials, ceramic tiles, fitted kitchens, fitted bathrooms, interior fittings, and exterior carpentry. The High-Performance Materials segment offers a range of ceramic and plastic products for various applications, as well as glass strands, reinforcement textiles, grinding wheels, coated abrasives, and superabrasive grinding wheels and tools.
