Pechiney engages in the production of primary aluminum and fabricated aluminum products, and packaging materials worldwide. It operates through five divisions: Primary Aluminum, Aluminum Conversion, Packaging, International Trade, and Ferroalloys and Other. The Primary Aluminum division produces and sells primary aluminum, as well as produces bauxite and alumina. The Aluminum Conversion division includes rolled products, extrusions, and casting alloys used in a variety of markets, including aerospace, automotive, sea transport, rail, industry, industrial equipment, construction, and beverage cans. The Packaging division manufactures flexible plastic packaging, tubes, aerosols, and a range of other packaging for the food, healthcare, and beauty markets. In the United States and Europe, this division produces a range of single- and multi layer films and laminations, pouches, bags, lidstock, and thermoformed trays. In addition, it produces a range of single- and multi layer polyolefin and PET barrier bottles in North America, the United Kingdom, and continental Europe. The International Trade division operates a worldwide network of sales agencies, which market products manufactured by the company and third parties; trades in non-ferrous metals and other basic materials; and distributes semi-finished aluminum products. Ferroalloys and Other division comprises Pechiney Electrométallurgie, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, which mainly produces silicon and ferroalloys, as well as abrasives and refractories.
