Nintendo was founded in 1889. It was formerly known as Marufuku Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Nintendo Playing Card Co., Ltd. in 1951; and to Nintendo Co., Ltd. in 1963. The company is headquartered in Kyoto, Japan.
