Metro International S.A. (Metro) is a newspaper publisher based in Luxembourg. It publishes a free-of-charge newspaper Metro, issued five days a week, Monday through Friday. As of December 31, 2007, there were 72 daily Metro editions published in 154 cities, in 21 countries and in 18 languages across Europe, North and South America and Asia. The audience includes around 20 million readers, who collect the newspapers in public transport networks and commuter zones. Weekend editions are also published in chosen cities on Saturdays. The newspaper is distributed in public transport networks, offices, retail outlets, busy streets and highly populated areas like college campuses. Metro derives its revenues almost exclusively from advertising sales.
