Map of Medicine provides a visualisation of the ideal, evidence-based patient journey for common and important conditions - a sat nav overview that can be shared across all care settings. The Map is a web-based tool that can help drive clinical consensus to improve quality and safety in any healthcare organisation.

Map of Medicine was initially developed with the support of University College London and the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust.

As demand grew amongst healthcare communities in the UK it became clear there was international potential that required greater business support.

In June 2005 the growing business was acquired by international publishers Informa plc. Three years later, Map of Medicine caught the attention of Hearst Corporation, a market leader in evidence-based clinical information strong in the US. Hearst acquired the business in April 2008.
