This segment also offers housewares, and automotive and sporting goods; and immunizations and health screening services, such as blood, glucose, osteoporosis, stroke, and cholesterol testing, as well as operates a mail order pharmacy business. The Pharmacy Benefit Services segment provides services, including plan design and implementation, claims administration, and formulary management to third-party health plans and various organizations. This segment also offers prescription drug benefit plans to Medicare participants. As of January 25, 2007, the company operated 509 retail drug stores; and managed prescription benefit plans covering approximately 7.1 million lives.
