KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc. (KLC) provides early childhood education and care in the United States. The company offers tutorial programs in the areas of literacy, reading, foreign languages, and mathematics. It provides education and care services to infants and children up to twelve years of age. KLC focuses on the physical, social, emotional, cognitional, and linguistical development in a child. The company operates community centers, which serve the families in that community, as well as employer-sponsored centers, which provide onsite or near-site education and child care for the families of the partner institutions’ employees. As of January 27, 2004, it operated 1,227 centers serving approximately 118,000 children and their families. In addition, the company, through its subsidiary, KC Distance Learning, Inc., offers distance learning services for teenagers and young adults. KLC was organized in 1986 and is headquartered in Portland, Oregon. KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc. merged with Knowledge Learning Corporation in January 2005.
