International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a non-sectarian non-profit organization that provides emergency relief, rehabilitation, protection, resettlement services and advocacy to refugees, displaced persons, and victims of oppression and violent conflict. The organization’s activities include sanctuary and lifesaving assistance; water, food, shelter, sanitation, and medical care; rebuilding of devastated communities; restoring lost livelihoods; reuniting families; translation services; English-language instruction; job training; employment; and other counseling services. It has strategic affiliations with FilmAid International, Reproductive Health for Refugees (RHR) Consortium, Spanish Refugee Aid, and the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children. IRC was founded in 1933 and is headquartered in New York City with additional offices in Washington, District Of Columbia; Brussels, Belgium; and London.
