The IU School of Medicine educates the second largest student body in the U.S.

The main campus for the IU School of Medicine is located in the northwest quarter of downtown Indianapolis, on the IUPUI campus. Our 8 regional campuses are located on or adjacent to universities throughout Indiana.

The School has more than 60 clinical departments and speciality divisions.

The IU School of Medicine (IUSM) was founded in 1903 – only the fourth medical school in the United States, after Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and Western Reserve, to require two or more years of collegiate work for admission. The school awarded the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree to its first class of 25 in 1907.
