Established in 1959, IIT Madras, an Institute of world-wide repute, has been instrumental in nurturing the dreams and aspirations of some of India’s brightest minds through a mix of intensive curricular and co-curricular activities. The programs at IIT Madras aimed at developing in each student, a mastery of fundamentals, versatility of mind and motivation for learning, have resulted in well-rounded leaders of the highest professional competence.

IIT Madras has just celebrated its much awaited Golden Jubilee recently. The celebrations started on 31st July and continued throughout the previous year. While the academia marked the event by a slew of international conferences and prestigious book and journal releases, the students have played their part by taking their technical and cultural fests to a completely different level.

IIT Madras is a residential institute with nearly 460 faculty, 4500 students and 1250 administrative & supporting staff and is a self-contained campus located in a beautiful wooded land of about 250 hectares. It has established itself as a premier center for teaching, research and industrial consultancy in the country.

The Institute has fifteen academic departments and several advanced research centers in various disciplines of engineering and pure sciences, with nearly 100 laboratories organized in a unique pattern of functioning. A faculty of international repute, a brilliant student community, excellent technical & supporting staff and an effective administration have all contributed to the pre-eminent status of IIT Madras.
