HTC Corporation (TAIEX: 2498), formerly High Tech Computer Corp., is a Taiwan-based manufacturer of portable mobile devices. It was founded on May 15, 1997 and was strictly an outsourcing company, an Original Design Manufacturer (ODM). HTC designs, manufactures and markets the world’s most innovative, feature rich Smartphone and PDA Phone devices. Since its establishment, HTC has developed strong R&D capabilities, pioneered many new designs and product innovations, and launched state-of-the-art PDA Phones and Smartphones worldwide. Today, HTC provides its own HTC self-branded products, as well as supporting its operator-branded products and its OEM partners. HTC also owns Dopod as a subsidiary company. HTC is also a member of the Open Handset Alliance.
